Deadman Alarm
Effective date: 21 May 2026
Last updated: 21 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ITTC LLC, a company registered in the Russian Federation
(“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, stores, and discloses
personal information when you use the Deadman Alarm mobile application and related backend services
(collectively, the “Service”).
Deadman Alarm helps sailing crews organize watch rotations during voyages, track watch activity, and notify crew
members when a watch goes silent. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information — your name and email address, supplied when you register directly or sign in with Apple or Google. If you register with email and password, we store only a cryptographic hash of your password (never the password itself).
- Boat and crew information — boat names, descriptions, watch schedules, watch roles (helmsman, controller), and the membership relationships between users and boats that you or other crew members create.
- Watch activity — timestamps and statuses (e.g. log, warning, call, call confirmed) generated when you confirm watches or interact with the in-app watch monitor.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers — a device identifier that you provide on sign-in so that we can manage your sessions per device.
- Push notification tokens — APNs (iOS) or FCM (Android) device tokens, used solely to deliver push notifications and Live Activity updates related to your watches.
- Authentication tokens — short-lived access tokens and long-lived refresh tokens, stored on your device and on our servers, used to keep you signed in.
- Technical logs — server-side request logs containing timestamps, request paths, anonymized identifiers, and error events. Logs are used for security monitoring and debugging.
- Last activity timestamp — a “last ping” time used by the watch-monitoring feature to detect inactive watches.
1.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise GPS location.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data.
- We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not show advertising.
- We do not sell personal information.
2. How We Use Your Information
| Purpose | Data used |
| Provide the core Service — account creation, sign-in, boat and watch management | Name, email, password hash, boat/watch data |
| Send push notifications and Live Activity updates for watch events | APNs/FCM device tokens, Live Activity tokens |
| Detect silent watches and notify the crew | Watch logs, last activity timestamp |
| Maintain sessions across devices | Device identifier, refresh tokens |
| Secure the Service and prevent abuse | Technical logs, authentication metadata |
| Comply with legal obligations | Any of the above, where required |
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis (e.g. the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — to provide you with the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, prevent fraud, and maintain reliability.
- Consent — for push notifications, which you can disable at any time in your device settings.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
4. Sign in with Apple and Google
When you sign in with Apple or Google, the relevant provider sends us a verified email address (or, if you use
Apple’s “Hide My Email” relay, a relay address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com) and your name.
We use these only to create or look up your Deadman Alarm account. We do not receive your Apple or Google
password and we do not access any other data from those accounts.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We share personal information only with:
- Other crew members of your boat — when you join a boat, your name and watch activity are visible to other members and the captain of that boat. This is essential for the Service to function.
- Service providers (sub-processors) — vendors that process data on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations:
- Apple Inc. — Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Sign in with Apple.
- Google LLC — Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android push notifications, and Sign in with Google.
- Our cloud hosting provider, which stores the application database and runs the backend.
- Authorities — when required by valid legal process, applicable law, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
6. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in jurisdictions other than your own, including outside the European
Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the standard
contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Watch logs and boat data are retained while the related boat exists or until deleted by the captain.
- Refresh tokens are removed on logout or when superseded by a newer session on the same device.
- Technical logs are retained for a limited operational period and then deleted or anonymized.
- When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. You may also request deletion by emailing us at
[email protected]. On deletion, your profile, device tokens, refresh tokens, and personal
boat memberships are removed. Boats for which you are the captain will be deleted together with their watches and
logs.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Request portability of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent (without affecting prior lawful processing).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including TLS in transit, hashed passwords,
short-lived access tokens, and restricted internal access to production data. No system can be guaranteed 100%
secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your device protected.
11. Children
Deadman Alarm is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not
knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please
contact us so we can delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and revise the
“Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice through the app or by
email.
